Founder Message

Being born and raised in the family of doctors and architects, Divya always understood the importance of education and the part it plays in laying the basic foundation of one’s being. Growing up, she used to teach and coach her maid’s two daughters who unfortunately never got an opportunity to go to school. This instigated in her, a lifelong love and passion to pass the gift of knowledge that she had. Even though she did her masters in plant genetics from University of Florida, her drive to educate and making a difference to those precious early years, made her start her career in the field of early childhood education. Within no time, she transformed from a teacher to manager to director to a regional director. Today, she possesses massive knowledge of school operations and over 11 years of experience working with preschoolers, elementary and middle school kids.

Pinched by the bug of entrepreneurship and passion for the field of education, Divya ventured into the business side of education Industry. She opened her first Afterschool Center in 2018 in Fremont and became a cofounder of Achievers with her partner Neeru Vermani. The afterschool flourished in the first year itself leaving quite a bit of waitlisters wanting to enroll in their program. After successfully running afterschool and camps for the next 4 years, Divya immersed herself in the field of early education once again. Achievers acquired three preschools that are running successfully under her and her partner’s leadership and guidance. Divya aspires to grow in this field and give wings to her vision of having quality early childhood education in the bay area and beyond.

Divya strongly believes that introduction and clarity of basic math, language, science & social concepts early on is a bedrock for building a successful future. Although she gives great emphasis to academics, she sticks to the cliche – ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’. She realizes the importance of extracurricular activities that present physical, mental and creative challenges to children, and shapes them in a holistic and a fulfilling way. Divya,  also believes that children are little soaking sponges and are always hungry for more. As educators, we need to keep feeding into their growing appetite for knowledge  and keep adding excitement to their regular boring ‘Menu of curriculum’. She often says “To educate – is an art that touches a student’s mind, body and spirit.”

Her ultimate goal is to bring the joy of learning to the not so fortunate children of the third world countries and she is determined to make her dream a reality one day.

In her free time, Divya likes to get her inner artist expressed through her artwork and dance. She loves to spend time with her friends and family and her 6 year old daughter.
